Our Story
April & Brian Jensen started Scenic NorthWest Surgical Outreach in 2023. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit based in the Willamette Valley, Oregon. We take medical teams on trips to Kenya, Guatemala, Malawi and Peru, to provide free surgeries and participate in community development projects.
Our Background
Brian and April started their relationship in Honduras in 2008 while studying International Rescue & Relief. They have two young and adventurous boys at home. April Jensen is a board certified General Surgeon with a Master's of Public Health and a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. Brian Jensen is a EMT, firefighter, arborist, adventurer, photographer, blogger and pilot in training.
Our Goal
Our goal is to make surgery safe and accessible. Our locations are carefully thought out to ensure patients have continuity of care. Each location has a sustainable partnerships abroad. Scenic Northwest Surgical Outreach organizes international surgical missions with the ultimate goal to invest in sustainable healthcare, capacity building, and equitable care.
Ways to Help
Donate to the Cause
There are lots of ways to support the cause! We are seeking medical supplies such as sutures and gloves, donated equipment, and money to purchase additional supplies. Every dollar you donate goes directly to the mission of supporting surgery teams to travel to remote locations and provide much needed surgeries. We support and collaborate with local non-profits in the regions we travel. Donations are eligible for tax-exempt status.
Join a Trip
If you are interested in an upcoming surgery trip, let us know and join our surgery teams! Scenic Northwest Surgical Outreach will be returning to Guatemala, Kenya and Peru every year. We are looking for Doctors, CRNAs, PAs, nurses and techs. Our community development team is comprised of people of all ages and skill levels. Support a fundraiser
On March 7th, we are hosting a Casino night fundraiser to purchase surgical and anesthesia supplies for our Kenya trip. We have partnered with MedAid to source the supplies.
