Our Story
April & Brian Jensen started Scenic NorthWest Surgical Outreach with a simple goal in mind: to travel around the world with our friends and provide medical services. Scenic NWSO is a non-profit based in the Willamette Valley. We organize surgery trips to impoverished and remote areas in Central America & Africa.
Our Background
Brian and April started their relationship in Honduras studying International Rescue & Relief. April Jensen is a board certified General Surgeon with a Master's of Public Health. Brian Jensen is a EMT, Firefighter, and pilot in training. We have a passion for the outdoors!
Our Goal
Our goal is to send surgery teams around the world to provide much needed surgeries to impoverished communities. Through donations, fundraisers and grants, we bring medical supplies to these locations, provide free surgeries and teach medical students, surgery residents, local surgeons and support staff along the way.
Ways to Help
Donate to the Cause
There are lots of ways to support the cause! We are seeking medical supplies such as sutures and gloves, donated equipment, and money to purchase additional supplies. Every dollar you donate goes directly to the mission of supporting surgery teams to travel to remote locations and provide much needed surgeries. We support and collaborate with local non-profits in the regions we travel.
Join a Trip
If you are interested in an upcoming surgery trip, let us know and join our surgery teams! Scenic Northwest Surgical Outreach will be returning to Guatemala every year and are always looking for more anesthesia providers, surgeons, assists, OR nurses, and PACU nurses. A smaller group also travels to Kenya and Malawi to help train local providers, perform procedures and work in the Women's Health clinic.
Come to a fundraiser
Our last fundraiser was at the Elks Club, Corvallis, November 2023. It was such a fun night with friends where we were able to auction items off such as vacation rentals, jewelry, and artwork. Thank you to our local sponsors including 2Towns, 4 Spirits, Del Alma, Fuzzy Bee Farm, Katy Willis and many other friends.
